Cinch’s slug took Brilly high on the right side of the chest, almost at the shoulder. It didn’t look like a fatal wound, no major organs there, but it put him down. The thug started yelling, cursing. Cinch moved forward to help the wounded man.
The spring dog beat him there.
Cinch emptied the rest of the magazine at the dog, but it was a waste of time and ammo. Apparently somebody had overriden its visual-attack-only program. There was nothing in the universe that could save Brilly. The sound of human flesh and bones being torn and crunched filled the night.
Brilly stopped cursing.

I'll admit it. I'm a huge fan of his Matador series and this new character has potential for another series. I'll be waiting to see how many, if any, of the characters in the first book Mr Perry can manage to feature in the next book as the hero travels from planet to planet enforcing the laws. It's got a little of the "Firefly" flavor going with the western in space feel.Product details

western space! I could be a lot better, the plot is a little weak but is a good book if nothing else is around
Another entertaining book with a unique hero by Mr Perry. Keeps you interested throughout. Hope he continues the series with many more to come
Typical Perry action mixed with humor and ago r my th here dim we national characters. Almost as good as the Matador series but with a different vibe. I like the concept of a main character that is seasoned but doesn't do everything right, feels pain and has some regrets.
i enjoyed this space marshall storey. the writing ok s good and story fells like an oldlamour western set on frontier planet.
Well written. Good story line with believable characters. Nice twist at the end. Good, fun book. I like anything Steve Perry has written. Very good author.
Steve Perry is one of my favorite authors. Anything he writes will have good characterization and lots of action. He also likes strong capable women. I highly recommend his Matador series as being some of the best SF I've ever read. Like this book it's a fast read that leaves you wanting more. )
I saw the movie "The Lone Ranger" a few weeks ago. It was really awful. This book is even worse. I can't understand that a normally very competens writer like Steve Perry can have written it. Absolutely not worth the money or your time.
